Joseph Barlow, a 25-year-old McAlester police officer, died after surrendering to his injuries on Monday, Walk 20. The McAlester police office reported the news via Facebook around the same time.

The official was involved in a head-on collision at Walk 17 while assisting in a memorial service parade for Richard Parker, a McAlester Skipper. Barlow’s vehicle was struck by a dark Passage pickup truck driven by Martín Rivas Rodríguez when he allegedly crossed the median line.

Rivas was jailed on Paseo 18 and was charged with causing a mishap without a driver’s license, reckless driving, and causing extraordinary actual injuries. After Barlow’s death on Monday, Glenpool police issued an additional warrant for Rivas based on a first-degree murder allegation.

The Glenpool Police Office anticipates that the lead prosecutor should document additional charges against Rivas. The McAlester Police Division said Joseph Barlow was surrounded by police officers, family members and numerous close associates when he breathed his last.

An official statement from the Glenpool Police Division gave more subtleties about the mishap. He said Commander Richard Parker’s parade was traveling south on US 75 north of 151st Road in Glenpool around 6:30 p.m.

A northbound Passage F-250 suddenly changed course down the middle to avoid the traffic jam caused by the parade. The Portage crossed the ranger’s driveway and collided head-on with Barlow’s vehicle.

The public statement went on to say that Joseph Barlow must be removed from the destruction of his vehicle and he was turned over to a local medical clinic with injuries that were deemed life-threatening. It was said that while he was admitted to the St. John Clinical Center in Tulsa, the McAlester Cop was in basic condition.

Parker died after 26 years of service to the US as McAlester Police Chief. The driver of the van and the traveler denied clinical treatment at the scene, and the 39-year-old driver was later recognized as Martín Rodrigues Rivas.

At Walk 17, roads south of US Highway 75 through north of the 151st Road Scaffold were closed while the accident was investigated and the destruction cleaned up.

About 100 people gathered outside the McAlester Police Division on Saturday, Walk 18, to pray to God for Joseph Barlow. Barlow’s family issued a statement Saturday night thanking the people of Oklahoma, the occupiers, crisis response organizations and emergency clinic staff for their help.
