When asked how the movement had affected him, he said he was “old-fashioned” as he liked the idea of a “man chasing a woman” and stated that “a woman should be courted and pursued.” He went on to add:
It is very difficult to do that if there are certain set rules. Because then it’s like, “Well, I don’t want to go up and talk to her, because they’re going to call me a thief or something.” Now? Now, you can’t really chase someone past a “no.” It’s just, “she’s fine, great.” But then there’s the “oh why did you give up?” And it’s like, “Well, because she didn’t want to go to jail.”
The comment resulted in the actor being punished online.
Adding to the reaction online, many have called Henry Cavill a “p*dophile” for dating a 19-year-old boy.

One netizen pointed out that Tara King was the only young adult he ever dated and that there was “no reason to call him a creep, a hairdresser or a pedophile.” They attached an image showing that he was in a relationship with Ellen Whitaker, Gina Carano, Kaley Cuoco, Lucy Cork, and Natalie Viscuso, where the women and Henry Cavill were a proper age difference between them.
