Mills Jr, 32, is charged with second-degree murder, official oppression, aggravated kidnapping in possession of a weapon, aggravated assault in concert, official misconduct through the unauthorized exercise of official power, two counts of kidnapping. aggravated causing bodily injury and two counts of official misconduct for breach of statutory duty. He is currently being held on $250,000 bond, before he was arrested by Shelby County authorities on January 26.
Nichols’ stepfather, Rodney Wells, told The Associated Press that they are not going to fight second-degree murder charges, having previously sought first-degree murder charges. “There are other charges, so I’m fine with that,” he said.
