Emmitt Martin Wiki, Biography

Tire Nichols, who was killed in an allegedly heinous assault by five ex-police officers, wept for his mother before losing consciousness, according to police body cam. The Fed-Ex driver got into a heated argument with police officers after he was pulled over for violating traffic laws. The officers, Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr and Justin Smith, were arrested and charged with second-degree murder and other related charges by Shelby County authorities. The altercation that proved fatal took place on January 7, three days after which Nichols was reported dead, succumbing to his injuries at a hospital.

RowVaughn Wells, Nichols’ mother, said her son was ‘hit like a piñata’ in anticipation of a violent protest as authorities stand ready to release police body cam recording the incident at 7 p.m. m. EST, Friday, Jan. 27, Wells said: “I don’t want us burning down our city, tearing up the streets, because that’s not what my son stood for. “If you are here for me and Tire, then you will protest peacefully. You can get your point across, but we don’t need to tear our cities apart, people, because we have to live in them,” the grieving mother said.
