Sydnie Quimby, 15, lost her life after being injured in a dangerous accident that occurred on Gunstock Mountain on Monday. Anthony Sperazzo, principal of Gilford High School, identified the victim.

Witnesses mentioned that Sydnie Quimby reportedly skidded off the road and suffered a head injury. According to authorities, she was wearing a helmet during the incident. Although she was taken to the hospital immediately, Ella Quimby passed away from her injuries.

A GoFundMe campaign was launched as a fundraising team to cover funeral expenses and help Sydnie’s family financially. The fundraiser was initially aimed at raising $15,000. However, people have donated more than $65,000.

A teenager named Sydnie Quimby has died after sustaining serious injuries in a deadly skiing accident in New Hampshire.

The tragic incident occurred when 15-year-old Sydnie Quimby suffered serious head injuries after a fatal ski accident on Gunstock Mountain. The incident took place on Monday. Shortly after the accident, rescue teams arrived on the scene and took Quimby to Laconia Hospital.

She was then transferred to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Tom Day, Gunstock Mountain Resort General Manager, said:

“According to witnesses, she skied off the trail and had an impact with trees and rocks that resulted in injuries. Our hearts go out to her family at this difficult time.”

Anthony Sperazzo spoke about the incident, saying:

“This is a sad loss for our community. The students were informed of this loss during the first block by their teacher. We are working diligently to support our students, staff, and families.”

The teenager had a horse named Mercy that she loved very much. 15-year-old Sydnie Quimby was also reportedly part of the Northeast Six Shooters. Molly Slombo, a member of the club’s board of directors, said:

“They competed together, they traveled together and they were both very active members of our club. She [Sydnie Quimby] trained the horse herself, and she was a very dedicated, loving, intelligent and talented person.”

Authorities mentioned that the 15-year-old had suffered head injuries. She died after being transported to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

Sydnie, 15, was taken to the ski base after the serious accident.

The Concord Monitor reported that witnesses mentioned that Sydnie reportedly went off Derringer Road and collided with some trees and rocks. Multiple witnesses have also confirmed this. Resort Manager Tom Day stated:

“Initially some of the skiers comforted her until Gunstock Ski Patrol arrived on the scene shortly after her. The young woman was transported to the area of the base where she was waiting for the Gilford Fire Department ambulance.”

Slombo has described Sydnie Quimby as an “ambitious” girl. As mentioned above, a GoFundMe fundraiser has launched two days ago. The fundraiser has already raised over $65,000 and over 800 donors have donated. According to a GoFundMe post:

“Sydnie loved life, animals, horseback riding, skiing, her chickens, kittens, and dogs. She deserves nothing but the best, and all we want to do is make sure that’s what she gets.”

Many donors have also written words of support for Quimby’s family following the teen’s tragic death.
