Panaji, Sept 8 (IANS) The Goa Forward Party on Thursday requested that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant resign as priest of the state home until the central organization finishes the investigation into the death case of Sonali Phogat.
“The Sonali Phogat family and girl should get action, the state police will not have the option to make it happen, they are feeling the pressure,” said Goa Forward party chairman and MLA Vijai Sardesai.
Sardesai said it was an unreliable claim by Pramod Sawant that Phogat had died of heart failure. “Haryana BJP and the Chief Minister have questioned the examination conducted by the Goa Police and have applied for a CBI application. This is because Goa CM had endorsed the ‘killing’ as respiratory failure,” Sardesai said.
The Goa BJP government has experienced harsh criticism since the disappearance of TikTok star Sonali Phogat, who she claimed was administered methamphetamine drugs.
Phogat had arrived in Goa on August 22 and was staying at an inn in Anjuna. She felt uncomfortable that night and, the next morning, she was taken to Anjuna’s confidential clinic, where she was pronounced dead.
Sardesai said that the BJP has forgotten to do strategy, vigilance and give initiative to the state and consequently the people are languishing.
He addressed whether the Chief Minister became familiar with drug distribution only after the passing of Sonali Phogat.
“The chief minister did not respond when asked by a columnist how drugs enter the state. Everybody in Goa realizes how drugs get here. Without government insurance and political support, this exchange cannot prosper,” he said.
Sardesai said that a few years ago there was a postponed report in the Goa Assembly on the nexus between the police and the lawmakers’ drug mafia.
“Previously, the Goa Assembly comprised a board of directors to focus on the ‘nexus between legislators, police and drug mafia’. Huge report was postponed in the Assembly then. Pramod Sawant is an individual from a similar house, would he say that he takes that into account? Does this exchange take place without the work of managing the particulars of the party? ”, He addressed.
Slapping Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Fatorda MLA Sardesai said he was busy these days to save his seat. “He is visiting the places of his pastors and is giving them authentications saying that they are not wrong. There are clerics in his office who recently told the public that a ‘Priest’ had sold positions. Wasn’t the Chief Minister aware of this?” Sardesai asked.
“Today, the rule of law has collapsed as the Chief Minister gets involved in making the resistance ‘Mukt’ Goa. He is trying to steal 8 MLA from Congress to achieve this goal. He is in that race,” Sardesai said.
