Calling Mark Farner began his calling in Terry Knight and The Pack sometime between 1965 and 1966, The Bossmen in 1966, and The Pack (aka The Fabulous Pack) sometime between 1967 and 1968.
In 1968 he assembled the American hard rock band Grand Funk Railroad with Don Brewer on drums and Mel Schacher on low-pitch guitar. Craig Frost, who played consoles, joined the band in 1973.
Mark was the band’s lead guitarist and recording artist, as well as the musician for most of the melodies. “I’m Your Captain (Closer to Home)”, one of the band’s most popular melodies, was released in 1970 and was a colossal achievement.
He also composed the 1975 tune “Awful Time,” the remainder of the band’s four singles that reached the Billboard Hot 100 Top 5. The meeting was nevertheless dissolved in 1976.
