Police officers at the crime scene said Jonathan Lee Whitlatch, who was 33 years old, killed Boone, Eden Mariah Montang and Vivian Renee Flores in a parking garage at Ames Cornerstone Church. It was then that he took his own life after killing those two young ladies.
Who is Eden Montang from Iowa? The two young ladies were understudies at Iowa State University. The school list lists Montang as a senior in Human Development and Family Studies. Whitlatch and Montang had recently broken up and Whitlatch assaulted his ex.
Speaking at a news conference in Nevada Friday morning, Story County Sheriff Paul Fitzgerald said 911 began calling about the incident shortly after 6:50 p.m.
Immediately after the shooting, others showed up and saw each of the three lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. Paramedics helped on the spot, but those efforts were ineffective.
He was charged Tuesday with abusive behavior at home and pantomime. The two cases are related to Montang. He was due to appear in court on June 10.
Specialists say Montang, Flores and a companion entered the town from the parking lot when Whitlatch entered the parking lot from his truck carrying a 9mm gun. Whitlatch reportedly started firing and immediately hit Montang and Flores. Then Whitlatch shot himself and died in a split second. The third young lady tracked down security during the shooting and was safe.
Ames Church Shooter, Johnathan Lee Whitlatch’s friend Montang, and Flores attended a Bible review rescue program at the Salt Company. The incident took place in the parking garage and there were no signs that the gunman expected to enter the community.
Foundation Church has issued an announcement confirming that the murdered ladies were individuals close to them who had no information on the victims of the shooting.
“Our hearts go out to each of the people involved, and we beg God for all those affected, especially the group of the deceased,” the city official said in a proclamation. The municipality also planned to keep a request administration for the victims on Friday.
Mass shooting in US The shooting is the latest in a string of high-profile shootings in the US of late.
On May 14, an 18-year-old white man, Payton Gendron, killed ten people at a grocery store in Buffalo, New York, with an assault rifle. On May 24, an additional 18-year-old gunman killed 19 elementary school students and two teachers at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.
The following week ended, there were no fewer than 14 major shootings in the US, as reported by the Gun Violence Archive, the country’s premier shooting site. On June 1, Michael Louis, 45, shot four people at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He had blamed his PCP for his persistent back pain.
