I wouldn’t know it, but she’s certainly very pretty.”

Boris Becker is being condemned once again for his comments. The 53-year-old was criticized for his comments deemed sexist about Hungarian tennis player Marton Fucsovics’s fiancee during his match against Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon quarterfinals.
Co-commentator John Inverdale deviated from the on-court game topic to point to Fucsovics’s fiancee, Anett Böszörményi, to joke that “if you’re a tennis player, it’s always good to have a partner named Anett.”
“They say they have the most beautiful women in Hungary. I wouldn’t know, but she certainly is very pretty, “Becker responded. Stephanie Hillborne, executive director of Women in Sport, commented that the couple’s topic was disrespectful and inappropriate, especially since they did so openly on live television.

“When two men are comfortable talking about women in this way, it doesn’t matter on live TV, it shows that there is still more to be done,” she said. Many fans were offended by the comments and felt that both Inverdale and Becker did not focus enough on the match.

This is not the first time Inverdale has been criticized for his sexist comments. In 2013, he commented on the winner of that year’s Wimbledon women’s title, Marion Bartoli, noting that she was “never going to be attractive.” The BBC backed Becker when asked about his remarks and a spokesperson said: “Boris Becker made a lighthearted comment that he did not mean to offend.”
Becker made headlines recently for questioning Naomi Osaka’s media boycott.
