News of June Brown’s death The BBC has declared that June Brown, most popular for her work as heavy smoker Dot Cotton, has died aged 95. On Sunday, the artist died at her home in Surrey with her family nearby.

Brown was born in Needham Market, Suffolk, on February 16, 1927, the son of Louisa Ann and Henry William Melton Brown. His younger brother, John Peter, died at 15 days of age of pneumonia in 1932, and his older sister, Marise, died at age eight of a meningitis-like ailment in 1934.
