From 1994 to 1998, Terry was a four-year guard at Texas-Arlington. She played expertly in Poland for one season before switching to coach.

Terry spent two stints as an alumni associate at her soul college, Texas-Arlington, before joining Louisville as an associate mentor in 2000. She has also gone to Dayton, Illinois, Southern Miss, UCLA and LSU.
