The picture really started in 2008, when Tim Buckley made a webcomic called Ctrl+Alt+Del (short for CAD structure) that revolves around Ethan, his sarcastic roommate Lucas, and his life partner Lilah. In the present day, things go awry when Lilah goes through unsuccessful labor.
To show what’s going on, four side-by-side photos without swapping show Ethan checking into an emergency clinic where he sees Lilah crying after her unnatural labor cycle. However, despite the pessimistic reactions of a larger mass, the content began to move as image material and people began to do parodies and re-evaluations.
