He had first sparked his interest when he was 10 years old when a friend of his father’s, who had a collection of Pop Art, helped him meet the renowned Conceptual Expressionist and Allegorical Expressionist painter Elaine de Kooning. Elaine had put on a performance of Eric and his little sister and had also given away a bunch of oil paintings.

Nearly a year after the fact, he had begun spray painting all over New York City. In 1974, in her early teens, she had shown her artwork and drawings freely and interestingly.

He later joined a New York City group known as The Soul Artists through which he became one of the pioneers bringing spray paint into mainstream consciousness. It was the foremost spray paint craftsman to brand its label as a logo and was one of the first streetwear organizations in the hip hop period.

Eric was included in the 1983 Style Wars narrative, a deeply acclaimed film about hip hop culture, spray paint, b-boying, and rap. Numerous outtakes from that film had subsequently been housed in the Academy Film Archive, as a feature of the Tony Silver Collection.

By 1986, he had established a design studio where he used to create logos, collection covers, and character designs, especially for music groups and record labels.

By 1991, he had moved his planning studio to Los Angeles. There, she had established a clothing of the same name and an additional brand, HAZE. By the mid-2000s, the brand had spread outside of the United States, shipping out 3 stand-alone flagship stores in Tokyo. By 2005, she had moved back to New York City and established another studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
