1 killed, 3 seriously injured after shooting in central Ottawa

One individual is dead and three individuals have been taken to emergency clinic with genuine wounds after a shooting in downtown Ottawa on Wednesday morning, police and paramedics affirm.

People on call were called to the 400 square on Gilmour Street around 7:30 a.m. following “reports of various weapon shots,” Ottawa police affirm.

“When officials landed on scene, they saw in the habitation four unfortunate casualties [had] discharge wounds. One capitulated to his wounds at the scene, three others were shipped to medical clinic,” acting examiner Francois D’Aoust said on scene.

A 15-year-old boy was taken to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and is in stable condition, a spokesperson for the hospital confirmed.

Police say the occurrence isn’t viewed as an “a functioning shooter circumstance” yet the presumed shooter is still on the loose. Police don’t have a depiction of the suspect, D’Aoust said.

Witness

Witness Kacey Griffiths lives on Gilmour Street and said she saw police land with their firearms drawn. She said she heard an uproar in the rear of the house and saw three individuals taken out on extends.

Significant violations examiners have assumed control over the case, Ottawa police said.

Officials have shut down Gilmour Street among Kent and Lyon roads and are asking individuals to stay away from the region.
